Judith Ann Harlow passed away at home on Friday, December 4, 2020 after a long fight with cancer. She was born November 20, 1944 in La Junta, Colorado, the daughter of Julius Francis Angleton and Clara Elizabeth (Houchens) Angleton.
Judy attended Rocky Ford schools, Otero Junior College, and in 1966 graduated from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado, with a BA degree. She married James R. Harlow in 1969 and celebrated fifty years of marriage in 2019. They had two children, Jill and Jon, and later added grandchildren Hailey and Zachary. Her family meant the world to her.
Judy began her teaching career in Rocky Ford, Colorado, in 1966. She taught second grade for twenty five years during which she took time out to raise her children. She chaired and served on many committees. She loved teaching, and her classroom children were a great joy to her. Judy retired from the Rocky Ford School District in 2005.
Throughout her life, Judy was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling, golf, and traveling. After retirement, she had more opportunities to travel across the United States from one coast to the other. One of her favorite places to visit was Glacier National Park in Montana. Judy also loved the mountains near Creede, Colorado. Her favorite times were trips that involved extended family get-togethers with fishing, good food and much laughter.
Judith was a member of the Rocky Ford United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities. She and her husband Jim were Sunday School Superintendents for several years. Judy served as United Methodist Women's President, helped at many bazaars, worked on church committees, and taught Sunday school.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents Julius and Clara Angleton. She leaves behind her husband Jim, daughter Jill Beyer and her husband Chris, son Jon, grandchildren Hailey and Zachary Beyer, her sister Nancy Covert and her husband Larry, nephew Larry Covert and his wife Rachel and their children Nicholas, Andrew, and Charlotte.
Graveside Service will be on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford by Pastor Marty Lee. The services must abide by CDC Guidelines and thus masks are required. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rocky Ford United Methodist Church, Arkansas Valley Hospice, or any charity of your choice.
