Kenneth "Kenny" Purcell

January 19, 1953 - March 12, 2016

Kenneth Robert (Ken) Purcell, 63, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away at 9:45 AM, Saturday, March 12th, suddenly, at Parkview Medical Center, Pueblo, Pueblo County. Kenneth was born in Rocky Ford, CO on January 19, 1953, a son of Kenneth Purcell and the late Nora (Roberts) Briggs. He was the husband of Peggy Lynne (Cameron) Purcell. They were married on May 14, 1982 in Rocky Ford, CO and for 34 years he enjoyed picking on her. In 1984, Kenny and his friends started the demolition derby at the Rocky Ford Fair in hopes that it would help kids stay out of trouble. He lived for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he loved spoiling them and enjoyed spending time with them. Kenny enjoyed camping and hunting. Kenny was an all around good man, there was nothing he would not do for others. He enjoyed scrap ironing, was a good husband and had a great sense of humor. He worked as a Foreman in Maintenance at Oliver Manufacturing La Junta, CO., for 24 years. Kenneth is survived by: daughter, Rachel, wife of Richard Miller, of Las Animas, CO; son, RJ, husband of Candie Norton, of Rocky Ford, CO. He is also survived by 5 Grandchildren; Trish Osburn; Rachelle Laurent; Chance, Drew & Cheyenne Norton; 5 Great-Grandchildren: Dallus & Dalton Purcell; Kenneth Van Galder, Kaizley Purcell, Eloise Miller. He was preceded in death by his mother: Nora Briggs; brother: Kippy Briggs and Randy Clements: sister: Orpha Purcell: aunt; Hattie Roberts; uncle: Lawrence Roberts A Family & Friends Gathering will be 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 24th at Holbrook Lake in Rocky Ford, CO with Pastor Cliff Schultz officiating.
