Kirk Pennington passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from a sudden, massive heart attack in his home.

Kirk was born April 26, 1963 in Springfield, IL to Robert Kenneth Pennington II (Bob) and Marjorie L. (Bowman) Pennington.

Kirk was a 1981 graduate of Springfield HS, a 1985 graduate of SSU, now UIS, and attended SIUC. He moved to Colorado in 1986 and became a Wild Land Fire fighter, Timber Specialist and assisted the wildlife biologist.

He married the love of his life, Pattiey Tipsword, on August 18, 1989.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother, Robert "Ken" Pennington III, and his older sister, Connie Kniery.

He is survived by his wife; his step-sons that he called his own, Erik (Shana) and Jacob (Lindsey) Tipsword; his grandchildren, Devon, Tyson, AJ, Ashley, and Logan Tipsword; sisters, Linda Fritz of CA and Carol Ehlers of CA; brother, Barry Keith Pennington of KS; one uncle, Don (Barb) Pennington of CA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
