Kit Marie Ring

January 28, 1949 - February 17, 2017

Kit M. Ring, 68, Rocky Ford, passed away at her home east of Rocky Ford on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017. She was born Jan. 28, 1949, in La Junta and attended school in Rocky Ford with the class of 1967, obtained her GED and took classes at Otero Junior College. Mrs. Ring lived in New Jersey; Denver, Colorado; Tonganoxie, Kansas and Rocky Ford. On July 16, 1988, she and John Ring were married in Tonganoxie, KS, where they made their home until retiring to Rocky Ford in 1998. She and John are the adoptive parents of Kaitlan Ring and also raised Jayson Sanders. Mrs. Ring worked in banking as a teller, in the trust department, and mortgage department; later she worked in catalog sales in customer service and purchasing. During her retirement, she was self-employed. She enjoyed gardening and parenting and traveling with family across the United States. Always supportive of her children, nieces, nephews and many other neighboring children, she was affectionately called "Mom" or "Aunt Kit." There was not a day her "kids" weren't running in and out of the house. She was an active member of the Rocky Ford United Methodist Church and served in many capacities. Mrs. Ring is survived by husband John and daughter Kaitlan of the family home, brothers Myron Dean (Joan) Sanders of Levelland, Texas; brother Rockie Sanders and sister Joann Torres of Rocky Ford and stepbrother Bobby Sanders of Kansas. In addition, nieces Tishina Florez, Gabrielle Torres, Patrice Torres, Jodia Torres of Rocky Ford and Phalicity Florez of Denver also survive as do nephews Alexander Torres, Joshua Florez, James Torres, Daminick Torres and Noah Torres of Rocky Ford. Other surviving family members include sister-in-law Janet (Eddie) Trainer, aunt Carol (Don) Gause, uncle Charles Gee of Rocky Ford plus many cousins.  Preceding Kit in death were son Jayson Sanders, parents Jerry Sanders and Joyce Fancher, adoptive parents Edwin and Ruth Sanders, sisters Marta Sanders, Jania Sanders and Denise Sanders, and brother Jeffery Mitchel Sanders. Also preceding her in death were her parents-in-law Miriam and David Ring, sister and brother-in-law Elaine and Lindsay Boling and brother-in-law Larry Ring.  A Memorial Service will be on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rocky Ford United Methodist Church with Rev. Marty Lee officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been chosen. Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Rocky Ford, Colorado.
