Obituary

Lois Darlene Jackson, 84, of Las Animas, CO, passed away Sunday, August 1st, at Bent County Healthcare Center.

Lois was born in La Junta, CO on February 12, 1937, a daughter of the late Zella Denise (Ulery) Wilder and Riley Judson Thomas.

She was married to Robert Lee Jackson, they were later divorced.

She was a member of the Higbee Women's Club.

Lois had an accident when she was young where the horse she was riding stumbled, fell and rolled over her. This left Lois in a coma for a month due to a head injury. Lois had to learn how to walk, talk and feed herself again. All this was the foundation for the woman she became and for her having an impact on many people throughout her life.

Lois demonstrated resilience, strength, love and kindness throughout her life. Lois loved everyone, seeing the good in everyone. Lois never met a stranger.

Lois was very proud of her children and grandchildren, bragging about them whenever she could. Lois also loved animals, having had many pets thought her life including a mountain lion Peaches and her pot bellied pig.

Her family remembers her as always being happy and sure to attend every family event or gathering where you would get one of her big, strong, tight hugs letting you feel her love for you. Lois was a protector of everyone she loved and it seems almost everyone had Lois as a baby-sitter. You couldn't get anything past Lois when she was babysitting.   Lois always had a little something for everyone making sure no-one was left out. She was always thinking of others often before she thought of herself. Lois always asked about everyone and their families and how they were doing. Lois would do everything she could for anyone in need. Lois was a rare gem in this world.

Thank you to her family that were the inspiration for this recollection of her life.
