Louise Carman, 98, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Friday, August 17th, peacefully, at her residence. Louise was born in Rocky Ford, CO on January 5, 1920, a daughter of the late Mayme Magnolia (Forkner) Snook and Oliver Clinton DeLong. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1938. She was the widow of Orthello Earl Carman, they were married on June 1, 1941 in Rocky Ford, CO. She attended the Community Presbyterian Church in Rocky Ford, she was the oldest active member. Louise worked as a bookkeeper for Carman Plumbing, Hilltop and Newdale Grand Valley Water Companies, Rocky Ford Federal Credit Union, Rocky Ford Coop Creamery and C & L Flying. Louise considered her most important job and greatest accomplishment was being a Mom. She raised her children to be resilient, caring and happy, providing emotional and spiritual guidance mixed with lots of love. Louise is survived by: Daughter Earleen Shock, of Tacoma, WA; Son Orin (Karen) Carman, of Big Spring, TX; Son Guy Carman, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Jane Carman (Dell) Wharry, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter-in-Law Leslie Carman of Rocky Ford, CO; Grandson Daniel Shock, of Tacoma, WA; Grandson Douglas Shock, of Tacoma, WA; Granddaughter Sarah (Chuck, III) Rivas, of Denver, CO; Grandson Brian Carman, of Odessa, TX; Granddaughter Cassandra (Nate) Nelander, of Rocky Ford, CO; Granddaughter Caitlin Carman, of Rocky Ford, CO; Great-Grandson Nathan Nelander, of Rocky Ford, CO; Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Larry Carman; infant daughter: Sue Ann Carman; brother: Clinton DeLong; son-in-law: David Shock. Graveside Services will be Saturday.
