Lucas J. Valdez

Lucas J. Valdez, 77, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Tuesday, January 7th, while in the company of family members, at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center, Pueblo. Lucas was born in the San Luis Valley, CO on April 12, 1936, a son of the late Jesusita and Luis Valdez. He was the widower of Theodora "Teddie" M. (Lucero) Valdez. they were married on March 12, 1961, in Denver, CO. She preceded him in death on December 25, 2013. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from NAPA in Denver, CO after 22 years of service. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO and the V.F.W. in Ordway. He is survived by; Daughter Cindy Acevedo, of Thornton, CO; Daughter Gina Garcia (Ruben Ramos), of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Marlene (Alejandro) Jimenez, of Thornton, CO; Daughter Liz Godoy (Victor Esquibel), of Rocky Ford, CO. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Teddie; 7 brothers and sisters; grandson Jacob Trujillo. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM with a Memorial Mass to follow at St. Peters Catholic Church, 1209 Swink, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 14th. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Ordway, CO. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
