Luis Eugene "Gene" Jaramillo, 86, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Saturday, August 1st, at his residence.

Luis was born in Las Vegas, NM on November 29, 1933, a son of the late Guadalupe (Sandoval) and Regino Jaramillo.

He was the husband of Della (Encinias) Jaramillo, they were married on July 14, 1952 in Rocky Ford and recently celebrated 68 years.

He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO.

Luis was a great husband and the best father and grandfather in the world. Anyone who knew him, knew how much he loved his family. He had a huge pillar of gentleness and stature, always helping everyone that needed it. He was a hardworking man. As a young man, he worked as a ranch hand. Several years later, he became a Reserve for the Rocky Ford Police Department, where he worked until the age of retirement. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan, and loved camping, fishing, working in his yard, and in his garage, making "monitos" for his wife, Della, to paint and decorate the yard with. Luis was an inspiration to his family.

He is survived by: Wife Della of the home; Daughter Cathy (Joey) Lara, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Sandy (Gilbert) Gallegos, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Donna (Daniel) Baca, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Connie (Jimmy) Garcia, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Rita (Darrin) Medina, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Nancy (Jack Barker) Andrews, of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Randy (Jennifer Duran) Jaramillo, of Ordway, CO; Daughter Hazel (Robert) Martinez, of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Edward (Sandra) Jaramillo, of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Roy Jaramillo, Jr., of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Steve Jaramillo, of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Josephine (Chris) Cordova, of Kansas.

He is also survived by 30 Grandchildren; numerous Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; Sons: Roy & Henry Jaramillo; Sisters: Angie Marquez and Priscilla Encinias; Brothers: Emilio, Elias, Raymond & David Jaramillo; Grandchildren: Domingo Jaramillo,

There will be a viewing from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 6th at Ford - Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford, CO. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Ford - Ustick Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 7, 2020 at the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. Interment will follow in the Valley View Cemetery, Rocky Ford, CO.
