Mrs. Lydia Johannes, 89, of Rocky Ford died on Sunday, July 18th, 2010 peacefully at the Pioneer Health Care Center. Lydia was born in Rocky Ford, CO on December 1, 1920, the daughter of the late George and Mary Heil. She was the widow of John George Johannes. They were married on April 22, 1938 in Rocky Ford. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1997. She worked in retail shops in Rocky Ford for many years. First at Donks Variety, then Junior Towne and at the Towne Shop. She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church Rocky Ford, CO 81067. She is survived by: Daughter Becky wife of Larry Barksdale of Cedaredge, CO; Son Wayne husband of Jeannie Johannes of Rocky Ford, CO; Grandchildren 6 Great-Grandchildren 7 She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 grandson: Troy Epps; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Graveside Service will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Rocky Ford, at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 22nd, with Rev. Steve Culver officiating. There will be no visitation but friends are welcome to sign the book on Wednesday until 5:00 PM. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO.
