Manuel Martinez, 73, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Thursday, December 12th, suddenly, at Parkview Medical Center, Pueblo. Manuel was born in Zacatecas, Mexico on February 26, 1940, a son of the late Virginia (Martinez) Martinez. He was the widower of Mary Del (Otero) Martinez, they were married on March 13, 1968 in El Paso, TX. He worked as a Irrigation Worker He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church Rocky Ford, CO. He was well known in the community by helping at the second hand store and attending bingo at the Knight of Columbus in La Junta. He is survived by: Son Victor Martinez, of Greeley, CO; Son Vincent, husband of Nola Martinez, of Manzanola, CO; Daughter Rosemary, wife of Paco Zepeda, of Roswell, NM; Daughter Ruth Martinez, of Pueblo, CO; Daughter Virginia Martinez, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Marisol Medina, of Roswell, NM; Son Jesse, husband of Sonia Martinez, of Pueblo, CO; Son Joe Martinez, of Buena Vista, CO; Son Eric Martinez, of Mexico. He is also survived by Numerous brothers and sisters from Texas to Mexico; 26 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Manuel was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Mary Martinez; father-in-law: Victor Weimer; sister-in-law: Juanita Lueveno; grandson: Johnny Martinez; son-in-law: Nathan Gallegos. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 18th, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
