Margaret (Avila) Padilla of Littleton, Colorado, formerly of Rocky Ford, Colorado, went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2018.
Margaret was born on March 16, 1923 in El Paso, Texas to the late Francisco and Ramona Avila. Her family later moved to Rocky Ford.
Margaret married the late Jose Padilla in 1946 when he returned from serving in the United States Army at the end of World War II. Together they had 3 children, Jose Padilla Jr of Des Monies, Iowa, Linda (Tab) Ungphakorn of Arvada, CO and Carol (Dan) Medina of Littleton, CO. She has 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband brother, Frank Avila, and sister-law, Mary Avila also formerly of Rocky Ford, Colorado.
Margaret worked 11 years in the Food Service department of the Rocky Ford school district. She then went on to work as a teacher's aide for 17 years for the Swink school district. She retired from the Swink school district in 1987.
Margaret was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She loved to read and spending time visiting with her grandchildren.
A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 both at the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
