Maria Lupe Chavez , 74, lifelong resident of Rocky Ford, a devoted mother and pillar of her family peacefully passed away on October 23rd, 2024. She was the true definition of strength until the very end. Lupe was cared for by her lifelong friend Eugene (Chage) Olguin. She had a passion for serving others at church, the nursing home and in her community. Christmas was a special time for her every year with a house full of loved ones making tamales and buñuelos.

Lupe is survived by her 4 daughters: Maria Reyes, Lorena (Michael) Medina, Grace Mestas, Diane Candelaria. 3 sons Lucio Reyes, Antonio Reyes, Jose Olguin. 10 granddaughters: Rosa Reyes, Jessica Sanchez, Melissa Barros, Ashley Tafoya, Erica and Dyanna Reyes, Hunter Coyle, Sarah Mestas, Felicity and Sontiana Olguin. 5 grandsons: Ricardo Vergara, Saibo and Israel Mestas, Jermaine Olguin, Marco Reyes as well as numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by loving grandchildren Yesenia Chavez and Jeremiah Olguin.
