Ruth Montoya, 92, of Rocky Ford, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, while in the company of her sons and daughters, in the comfort of her home.

Ruth was born on January 3, 1930, in Ojo Sarco, New Mexico to Fidel and Aguida Lopez. She married John B. Montoya on July 9, 1951, in Raton, NM. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2007. She was a homemaker and worked many years at Frozen Foods. Ruth enjoyed hosting family gatherings for the holidays. She loved playing cards, helping with the grandchildren, tending to her flowers and the orchard and garden. Ruth was always busy. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, watching her soap operas, and listening to music. Ruth was fortunate enough to travel to many places, including going to spend time with her daughter Stella and family a few times a year.

Ruth is survived by her children: Stella (Frank) Jaure of Albuquerque, NM, Joe Montoya, Ed Montoya, John Montoya Jr, Sam Montoya and Sally (Levi) Dellinger, all of Rocky Ford; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and recently the first great-grandson; her sisters: Percina Arellano and Becky Garcia; brothers: Alden Lopez and Fidel Lopez Jr all of New Mexico, along with her brother-in-law Don Montoya of New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Albert, her sisters Lydia, Rose and Bennie and her brothers Nick and Dennis.

A Rosary Service will be recited on Friday, August 26, at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford with Father Joel Lasutaz officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford.
