Marie Russell

Marie Rose Russell, 75, of Las Animas, CO, passed away Sunday, September 21st, after a short battle with cancer, at Parkview Medical Center, Pueblo, Pueblo County. Marie was born in Pecos, NM on December 22, 1938, a daughter of the late Preceliana Cecilia (Garcia) and Benito Baca. She attended schools in the Rocky Ford area. She was the wife of George Franklin Russell; they were married on October 14, 1972 in Rocky Ford, CO. She worked in housekeeping at a nursing home in California and also worked at the El Capitan for many years. Before her illness she helped care for her two youngest grandchildren and enjoyed visiting catholic churches where ever she traveled. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Las Animas, CO. She is survived by her husband George of Las Animas, CO; Son Matt, husband of Mandi Russell, of Las Animas, CO; Brother Eloy, husband of Tedora Baca, of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Mary Sowers, of Pueblo, CO; Brother Augustine, husband of Debbie Baca, of La Junta, CO; Granddaughter Sierra Russell, of La Junta, CO; Grandson Keegan Russell, of La Junta, CO; Granddaughter Emma Russell, of Las Animas, CO; Granddaughter Melina Russell, of Las Animas; Brother-in-Law William Allen, husband of Cindy Russell, of Siegel, PA. A Rosary service will be recited at 10:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM both at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO on Monday, September 29th, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-3 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
