Marion A. Mathis

Mr. Marion A. Mathis, 86, of Rocky Ford passed away Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 while in the company of family members at Pioneer Health Care Center. Marion was born in Balko, OK on June 1, 1923, the son of the late John Henry and Alta Louisa (Cooper) Mathis. He was the husband of "Sally" Lorraine (Clarkson) Mathis. They were married in September of 1946 in Syracuse, KS. He worked as a Lineman at Fort Carson. He served in the U. S. Navy He was a member of Washington Av. Baptist Church in Rocky Ford, CO 81067. He is survived by his wife; Daughter Susan Ransom of Fountain, CO; Son James husband of Dorothy Mathis of Canon City CO; Son David Mathis of Colorado Springs, CO; Sister Loetta Cline of LaJunta, CO. He is also survived by 13 Grandchildren: 12 Great Grandchildren Numerous Nieces and Nephews He was preceded in death by his Parents; Son Richard, and Son John; Grandson Jimmy: 4 Sisters: Viola, Myrtle, Audrey, and Lulu 2 Brothers: Ernie and Floyd Funeral Services will be at the Washington Av. Baptist Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 27th, with Pastor Walter Gragert officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 9AM until service time at the Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
