Marjorie Louise Cobb

July 28, 1923 - January 26, 2016

Marjorie Louise Cobb, 92, passed away January 26 at Pioneer Nursing Home in Rocky Ford, where she had resided the past 2 years. Mrs. Cobb had been a resident of Ordway since 1946, when she arrived there as a new bride with her husband, Orville, a recently returned WW II soldier. She was born July 28, 1923, in New Harmony, Indiana, to Marion and Lela Schutz, the 4th of their 7 children. She graduated from New Harmony High School and attended Lockyear Business College in Evansville, Ind. During WW II she was employed at a defense plant and at Wright Air Base in Dayton, Ohio. In her later years she was a correspondent for The Rocky Ford Daily Gazette for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Orville, sons Ty and Gary, her parents and all of her siblings, including 2 within the past 3 months. She is survived by children Linda (Jim) Adkins of La Junta, Larry (Linda) Cobb of Security, and Sarah Dillon of Rocky Ford and her friend Rick Rickman of La Junta, grandchildren Chet (Kelly) Adkins of Monument, Flint Adkins of Denver, Candy (Mackie) O'Neal of Swink, Melissa (Jeff) Mitchell of Edmond, Ok., David (Tammy) Cobb of Colorado Springs, Trina Cobb of Fountain and Tawnya (Jim) Folwell of Pollock, Id. Her great-grandchildren are Kayle, Austin, Damian and Eli Adkins, Collin, Dillon and Kyla O'Neal, Joee, Shelbie, Emilie and Annelie Mitchell, Anthony and Katie Cobb, Kodee and DylAnn Bruch and Kelsey Whittington. Great-great grandchildren are Ellieght and Draycen Whittington. She's also survived by sisters-in-law Jackie Schutz and Frances Schutz of New Harmony, Ind. and numerous nieces and nephews. Service for Mrs. Cobb will be Monday Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. at the Ordway United Methodist Church, 403 Main St. with burial at the Ordway Cemetery. In leu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial donations may do so in Marjorie's name to Tri-County Family Care Center, 512 1/2 Main St., Rocky Ford, Co. 81067, which is a tax-deductible non-profit founded and directed by Sarah. Eaton Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
