Mark E. Davis

October 10, 1954 - May 20, 2017

Mark Davis, 63, passed away from a sudden heart attack while en route from Walden, Colorado to his home in Manzanola, Colorado, on Saturday, May 20th. Mark Edwin Davis was born October 10, 1954 in Boone, Iowa to Virgil Edwin Davis and Irene Clarabelle (nee Harris) Davis. Mark was the third of seven children from this union. Still surviving are older brother Steven (of Bessener, Alabama) and younger siblings Kent (of Washington, Iowa), Russell (of Troy, Illinois), Cyndy McCall (of West Chester, Iowa) and youngest brother Patrick (of Dubuque, Iowa). At the age of eighteen Mark entered the army and served about five years before being injured on active duty. Mark married Rhonda K. Schwindt on July 3rd, 1992 in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Two sons, Justin and Clay Davis were born of this union. Mark and Rhonda divorced in 2000. Justin (24) resides in Stinnett, Texas and Clay (22) resides in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Justin has three children: Jayden (7), Dayton (4 ½) and Emma (2 ½). All three were beloved grandchildren of Mark. In July of 2009 Mark joined in a loving partnership with Kristina Hughes, and they resided together north of Manzanola, until his death. Mark loved fishing and hunting, and being in the wild outdoors. In his younger days in Iowa this meant coon hunting and catching catfish, and later he greatly enjoyed elk hunting in Colorado. One of his dreams (never fully realized) was to work for the Wildlife Service. His other passion was going to auctions and restoring antique farm machinery and vehicles, and his face was well known to customers at Muth Welding Service, in Rocky Ford, over many years. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother Larry. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially by sons Justin and Clay and partner Kris. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 31st at First United Methodist Church in Rocky Ford, CO with Pastor Marty Lee officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Ft. Lyon National Cemetery, Las Animas, CO. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford - Ustick Funeral Home.
