Obituary

Mary Louise Harwood, 92, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Wednesday, August 1st, peacefully, at Pioneer Health Care Center, Rocky Ford.

Mary was born in Denver, CO on September 2, 1925, a daughter of the late Ethel Leola (McKnight) and Glenn Pennington Kennedy. She lived in Texas, Ok, Co, & Wa. She attended Rocky Ford High School in her teen years and that is where she met Robert Harwood. Her family moved to Seattle Wa., looking for work during the war.

She was the widow of Robert Eugene Harwood, they were married on April 4, 1943 in Kent, WA, he preceded her in death on July 9, 2008.

She was a farm housewife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

Mary worked in the lunchroom for R2 School District of Rocky Ford for many years. Also after retiring, worked at GREEN THUMB which is part of job service . She volunteered at Sage Center and was an honored member of RSVP. She enjoyed crafts such as crocheting, quilting, and was a member of Hobby Club of Rocky Ford, Co.

She was active in The Church of God in Rocky Ford until the death of her husband. She then attended First Baptist Church with her daughter, Sandy and husband Gene Coffelt.

Mary is survived by: two daughters: Sandy (Gene) Coffelt, of Rocky Ford, CO, Linda (Richard) Estep, of Rocky Ford, CO; two sons: Jerry (Jeanne) Harwood of Rocky Ford, CO; Robert (Cindy) Harwood, of Hilo, HI; brother: Robert, (Carol) Kennedy, of Renton, WA. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren & 24 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, Robert "Bob" Harwood; infant son; great-great-granddaughter: Cheyenne Hight; 3 sisters: Ora Lee Boyett, Glenna Ruth Brooks & Alma Rose Brammer.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 7th at Valley Community Church in Rocky Ford, CO with Pastor Joseph Proctor officiating. Inurnment will be private at a later time.
