Mary Nelson of Rocky Ford passed away at her home at the age of 81. Mary was born in Crowley County to Dave and Erma Zimmerman. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School Class of 1961. Mary worked at the Rocky Ford Daily Gazette for 24 years before going to work for Otero County Human Services. Mary enjoyed traveling and has gone all over the world. She liked to do craftwork and baking. Mary was a grand champion cake decorator at the Colorado State Fair. She loved cars and motorcycles. Mary loved the Lord and was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Rocky Ford. She had the biggest heart of anyone you knew, she was a very giving person and was so full of love. Mary loved her husband, Harry, and her family.

Mary is survived by her husband of 24 years Harry Nelson, 2 sisters: Esther Roberts of Rocky Ford, Wilma (Gary) Scarbourgh of Post Falls, ID, nieces & nephews: Carl H. Zimmerman, Jr. of Pueblo, Randy Zimmerman of Rocky Ford, Tyler Zimmerman of Pueblo, Becky (Mike) Keating of, New Braunfels, TX, Ruth (John) Shannon of Kim, Debbie (Mike) Footit of Plainfield, WI along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and 1 cousin. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Carl Zimmerman, Sr.

A Graveside Service will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford.
