Mrs. Mary Emerine Ruiz, 63, of Rocky Ford died Friday, November 12th, 2010 while in the company of family members at her residence. Mary was born in La Junta, CO on February 3, 1947, the daughter of the late Benny and Mary Merlinda (Trujillo) Martinez. She attended schools in the Rocky Ford area. She was the wife of Jose Guadalupe Ruiz, they were married on July 30, 1974 in La Junta. She was a Homemaker and was known as the "Burrito Lady". She was also an avid Denver Bronco fan. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. She is survived by her husband, Jose Guadalupe of the home; Daughter Cindy wife of Martin Valdez of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Shirley wife of Ruben Villatoro of Garden City, KS; Daughter Lupe wife of Victor Lopez of Manzanola, CO; Daughter Mary Lou wife of Dave Saltzman of Manzanola, CO; Son Leo Mendez of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Jerry Mendez of Miliken, CO; Son Donato Ruiz of Pueblo, CO; Son Jose Ruiz, Jr. of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Francisco Ruiz of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Helen Montoya of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Sally Ruiz of Rocky Ford, CO; Brother Tony husband of Joyce Martinez of La Junta, CO; Brother Adam Martinez of Miliken, CO; Brother Pete husband of Patricia Martinez of Loveland, CO; Brother Louie husband of Una Martinez of Denver, CO. She is also survived by 18 Grandchildren: Doneka, Martin, Jr., Michael Valdez; Chantel, Janette, Ruben, Jr. Villatoro; Donato, Jr., Yesenia, Angelo Ruiz; Danitra, Octavia, Victor, Jr. Lopez; Alexis, Meghan, Amber Saltzman; Mario, Mariah, Quianna Ruiz. 1 Great-Grandchild: Xchitlalii Galan She was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Reina Cordova, Josie Cordova & Della Marquez; 1 brother: Joe Martinez A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 17th, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. A Vigil Service will be recited at 7:00 PM Tuesday at St. Peters Catholic Church. A visitation will be on Tuesday from 1-5 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. The family request donations to Arkansas Valley Hospice 118 W. 4th La Junta, CO 81050.
