Mrs. Mary Jane Schneider, 75, of Rocky Ford passed away Thursday, January 31st, 2013 suddenly at her residence. Mary was born in Gypsum, CO on January 2, 1938, the daughter of the late Vail Exley and Oma Elizabeth (Wilde) Tatham. She graduated from Redcliff High School in Redcliff, CO. She was the widow of Michael Eugene Schneider, they were married on April 23, 1971. He preceded her in death in 2006. Mary enjoyed drawing, traveling, reading, puzzles and slot machine games. History was her favorite subject. Mary worked at Jefferson Middle School in Rocky Ford for over a decade. Many will remember her from her time when she and her husband owned and operated Tastee Freeze in Rocky Ford. Mary was also a founding member of Rocky Ford's Friends of the Library. She is survived by: Daughter Cindy Stone of Pueblo West, CO; Son Alan Shane husband of Cintoria "Tori" Schneider of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Elizabeth wife of Steven Schneider-Duff of Rocky Ford, CO; Brother Sam husband of Carol Tatham of Gypsum, CO; Brother Robert husband of Betty Lyke of Summer, TX. She is also survived by 6 Grandchildren & 6 Great-Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Michael Funeral Services will be at the First Christian Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 6th, with Pastor John Dell officiating. A visitation will be on Tuesday from 1-4 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following the service and inurnment will be private at a later time in Hillcrest Cemetery, Rocky Ford, CO. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Valley Hospice, 531 Lewis, La Junta, CO 81050. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.fordustick.com.
