Masako Mameda

August 19, 1927 - December 13, 2008

Masako Mameda, formerly of Rocky Ford, passed away in Louisville, CO on Dec. 13, 2008. She was born on August 19, 1927 to the late Noburu and Mitsuye (Sakamoto) Murata in Sedgwick, CO. At a young age, she and her family moved to Brighton, CO, where she grew up on a dairy farm. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1945. She married Seido Mameda on May 8, 1948, and lived in Rocky Ford, where they farmed. They were married for 51 years and had 5 children. She was preceded in death by Seido in 1999 and three brothers. She was a founding member of the H.H. (Happy Homemaker's) Club from 1952-2004. She enjoyed taking swimming classes, golfing, and walking with friends, and always enjoyed watching her grandchildren in sporting, dancing or musical events. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She is survived by five children: Jodell Teruya (Elton), Susan Tsuda (Jon), Cathy Kiyota (John Innes-Brown), Herbert Mameda (Tammy) and Donald Mameda (Amy); eight grandchildren: Corey Teruya, Alan and Chad Tsuda, Kelsey Kiyota, Keitaro and Seiko Mameda, Greer and Hugh Mameda; two sisters: Tamako Nishimura and Carole Kawano; one brother: Hideo Murata; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Her Life will be celebrated on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 10:00 AM in the First United Methodist Church of Rocky Ford. There will be a private family inurnment at the Hillcrest Cemetery. There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation has been effected.
