Mr. Maximiliano (Max) Cordova, Sr., 82, of Rocky Ford died on Tuesday, August 21st, 2012 while in the company of family members at Sangre De Cristo Hospice House, Pueblo, CO. He was born December 18, 1929 in Rocky Ford, CO to Augustin and Ida (Pequete) Cordova. Max married Emma Garcia in Raton, NM on June 23, 1950. He served in the US Army, and after he was discharged he worked for the Pueblo Army Depot for many years, retiring in 1987. He was a life-long member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, where he served as a catechism teacher, Eucharistic minister, and leader of Cursillo retreats. He moved to the Walsenburg Colorado State Veteran's Nursing Home in 2003. He retired as a Fork Lift Operator at Pueblo Army Depot in Pueblo, CO retiring in 1987. He also worked for Woodside Seed Company in Rocky Ford. He is survived by his wife, Emma of the home; Daughter Theresa "Terri" Flores of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Marlene wife of Naz Flores of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Veronica wife of Patrick Coley of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Max, Jr. husband of Louann Cordova, of Swink, CO; Son Marvin husband of Sherry Cordova of Pueblo West, CO; Brother Tony Cordova; Sister Lucille Gutierrez; Sister Rosemary Castaneda; Sister Anita Page. He is also survived by grandchildren Brenda (Chad) McClendon, Clay & Matea; Sheila Flores, Cheyenne & Cameron; Greg (Tori) Flores & Max; Kevin (Paula) Flores; Keith Flores, Janelle (Alex) Rocha & Desirea; Qiana (Matt) Martinez, Mateo & Julius; Briana (Robert) Maes, Emilio & Liliana; Krystel (David) DeHererra,& Faith; Marvin, Jr Cordova, Alyssa, Angie & Hailey; Chantel Cordova & Elijah; Racquel (Justin Jackson) Cordova, Cashius, Kanin, & Avee; Gabriel (Thom) Gallegos & Nevaeh; Derrick Gallegos and Gunner; Brittani Gallegos. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Antonio Segura, son-in-law Hank Flores, sisters Alice Martinez and Margaret Masias, brothers Ray Cordova and Manuel Cordova. A Rosary Service will be recited at 10:30 AM on Friday with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow all at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 24th, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. A Visitation will be on Thursday from 1-5 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sangre De Cristo Hospice 601 Greenwood Avenue, Canon City, CO 81212 or Colorado State Veteran's Nursing Home in Walsenburg. Casketbearers will be Greg Flores, Kevin Flores, Keith Flores, Marvin Cordova, Jr., Gabriel Gallegos, Derrick Gallegos. Honorary Casketbearers will be Brenda McClendon, Sheila DeHerrera, Janelle Rocha, Qiana Martinez, Briana Maes, Krystel DeHerrera, Chantel Cordova, Racquel Cordova, Brittani Gallegos.
