Melitona Gonzales

Mrs. Melitona Gonzales, 99, of Rocky Ford passed away Tuesday, August 5th, 2008 while in the company of family members at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center, La Junta, CO. Melitona was born in Tecolotito, NM on June 16, 1909, the daughter of the late Benigno and Romanita (Lopez) Castillo. She was the widow of Eduardo Gonzales. They were married in 1935 in Anton Chico, NM. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1984. She was a Homemaker Melitona is survived by: a daughter, Jane (Joe) Sisneros of Las Animas, CO; two sons Toribio (Polly) Gonzales of Rocky Ford, CO and Ben (Elva) Gonzales of Rocky Ford, CO. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters; grandson: Toby Gonzales, Jr.; daughter-in-law: Tillie Gonzales A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 8th, with Fr. Jude Egbune officiating. A Rosary service will be recited at 10:30 AM in the St. Peters Catholic Church. Friends are invited to call Thursday 3-8 PM at the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
