Melvin Lohrey, 92, of Rocky Ford, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Pioneer Health Care Center, Rocky Ford. Melvin was born on August 25, 1924 in Rocky Ford to the late Adam & Pauline Lohrey. He moved to Sacramento, CA as a young man and became a truck driver until he retired. He then moved to Sun Valley, NV with his wife Hazel with her five children. At 70 years old he built a full size water wagon, beet wagon and 2 stage coaches. After his wife died he moved back to Rocky Ford to spend the rest of his life. He is survived by his wife, Sally Beach of the home; Sister Hazel Goebel; Numerous nieces, nephews and stepchildren Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 3rd at Ford - Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford, CO with Pastor Rick Miller officiating. Friends are invited to call 9:00 AM until service time on Monday, April 3rd at Ford - Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford, CO. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO.
