Michael (Mike) Gillen, 55, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Friday, January 10th, at Memorial Health System, Colorado Springs, CO.

Michael was born in La Junta, CO on March 18, 1964, a son of the late Bernice (Brunton) and H. Wayne Gillen.

He was working at Ruby's Auto Body in La Junta as a paint prepper and detailing vehicles when they were ready to go out.

Michael loved tinkering, working on his motorcycles, trucks, He also enjoyed drawing, watching the Broncos and Rockies and being around the grandkids. He always liked keeping the kids entertained while the adults did their thing. He raced motocross for a lot of years as a young boy and played sports all through school.  He was very naturally athletic and could do a flip off the side of anything!  As a child in Crowley County he and his family camped, boated, fished, farmed and raced motorcycles.  When he was in high school his family moved to Oak Creek where he graduated high school and he loved the outdoor life there. He was a hard worker and owned a carpet laying business for a long time. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by: Special Friend Donna Romero - Jaramillo, of Rocky Ford, CO; Brother Kevin, husband of Kristin Gillen, of Castle Rock, CO; Sister Quinn, wife of Gregory Engle, of Parker, CO; Aunt Kathlyn Gillen, of Pueblo, CO; Aunt Barbara Ann Honeycutt, of North Carolina; Son Skyler Gillen, of Grand Lake, CO; Son Dakota Gillen, of Grand Lake, CO; Friends Stephanie Jaramillo and son; Friends Michael & Joann Jaramillo & Children Friends Monica & Erik Encinas & Children

He is also survived by Numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 18th at Ordway United Methodist Church in Ordway, CO with Pastor Keith Hudiburg officiating. Inurnment will be private at a later time.
