Michael A. "Mike" West, 76, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Wednesday, September 16th, at his residence.

Michael was born in Denver, CO on July 27, 1944, a son of the late Jessie May (Sybertz) and Arthur Messenger West.

He was the husband of Deborah Joyce (Welsh) West, they were married on February 5, 1967 at Trinity Lutheran Church in La Junta, CO.

Mike was a faithful husband. He received a Christian baptism and confirmation. He had a quiet presence about him and he always gave you an honest answer.

Mike was a simple man, as evident by his most popular meal choice: meat and potatoes. He really enjoyed that meal being served to him by his grandchildren. Mike's faithful companion, Tripper, also waited for him to come and play fetch...and she still waits today.

Mike enjoyed cruising on Sunday mornings in his SSR. He enjoyed drag racing with his grandson, Kyle, on Friday nights at Pueblo Motorsports Park. Mike loved looking at "Pretty" cars. Mike enjoyed car shows, going to them, and entering a car in them. If Mike's nose wasn't under a hood, it was in a book, as he was an avid reader.

Mike's signature was painting flames. In later years he picked up jewelry making. He liked salt rocks and geodes. He also liked watching the Denver Broncos and CSU Thunderwolves.

He is survived by: Wife Deborah of the home; Daughter Deanna (Daryl) Bierbaum, of La Junta, CO; Daughter Andrith (Scott) Rothenbeck, of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Nancy Bennett, of La Junta, CO; Mother-in-Law Lorene Welsh, of Rocky Ford, CO.

He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Kayla, Kady, Kyle, Kyra Bierbaum.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren: Aubrie West; Kaden. Kynlee & Kolby Bierbaum.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 25th at Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO with Pastor Rick Miller officiating. Inurnment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Rocky Ford, CO.
