Mrs. Nellie Madrid, 81, of Manzanola died on Thursday, May 6th, 2010 while in the company of family members at Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Center - East, LaJunta, CO. Nellie was born in Rocky Ford, CO on January 21, 1929, the daughter of the late Rosalio and Consolacion (Gabaldon) Aparicio. She retired as a Cook at Patricio's Cafe Manzanola, CO. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church Rocky Ford. She was always involved doing volunteer work and anything that was needed in her community. She loved to cook, watching the Broncos, gardening, bingo and playing cards while taking money from the family. She is survived by; Daughter Senthia Madrid of Atlanta, GA; Daughter Rosalie Madrid of Rocky Ford, CO; Son David (Flora) Madrid of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Debbie Zamora of Coffeyville, KS; Daughter Patty (Charlie Amaya) Madrid of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Manuel (Kara King) Jurado, Jr. of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Michelle Jurado of Pueblo, CO; Son Patrick Madrid of Colorado Springs, CO; Special Friend Bonifacio Jurado of Manzanola, CO; Sister Jennie Madrid of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Candy (Reyes) Medrano of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Josie (Fred) Rivera of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Ramona Olivas of Phoenix, AZ; Brother Pete (Stella) Aparicio of Phoenix, AZ; Brother Waldo (Lenora) Aparicio of Rocky Ford, CO. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by a daughter: Agnes Kay Gonzales; sister: Crossie Esquibel; 2 brothers: Chris "Sparrow" and Pantalon Aparicio A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, May 11th, with Fr. Don Malin officiating. Visitation will be on Monday 9 AM until 5 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. A Rosary Service will be recited at 8:30 AM on Tuesday at St. Peters Catholic Church.
