Nicomeres (Shorty) Cordova, 85, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Wednesday, January 4th, while in the company of family, at his residence. Nicomeres was born in Holman, NM on June 1, 1931, a son of the late Romoncita Florence (Benabides) and Pedro A. Cordova. He was the widower of Mary Josie (Martinez) Cordova, they were married on September 17, 1950 in Rocky Ford, CO. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. He retired from the Pueblo Army Depot in Pueblo, CO. He had also worked at Winter Livestock, La Junta Livestock and the Sugar City Livestock. He loved watching the Denver Broncos & Colorado Rockies. He is survived by; Daughter Mary (Dennis) Gonzales, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Rose (Frank) Archuleta, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Patsy Rodriquez, of Aurora, CO; Daughter Betty Cordova, of Nebraska; Daughter Teresa (Juan Presiado) Cordova, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Gloria (Ramon) Quinonez, of Fort Morgan, CO; Son Eddie (Sharon) Cordova, of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Fred Cordova, of Casper, WY; Son Eddie Richard (Janet) Cordova, of Fort Collins, CO; Son Wilfred (Rose) Cordova, of Fort Collins, CO. 2 grandchildren that he raised Lydia Cordova of Fort Collins, CO & Harvey Cordova of Greeley, CO. He is also survived by 36 grandchildren, 95 great-grandchildren, 35 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Josie, son: Henry Robert Cordova; 2 sisters: Mary Martinez & Rose Cordova; 2 brothers: Margarito & Tony Cordova. A Rosary Service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 11th, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM, both in the St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. Interment will immediately follow on Wednesday, January 11th at Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peters Catholic Church 1209 Swink Av. Rocky Ford, CO 81067. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
