Orlando Reyes

Orlando (Orley) Matthew Reyes, 64, died unexpectedly at his home in Ordway, Colorado on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. He was born on June 27, 1952 in La Junta, Colorado, to Victor and Fidelia Reyes. He was a beloved son, brother, and uncle and was extremely close to all of his family members. Orley graduated from Crowley County High School in 1970. He attended Otero Junior College prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he retired as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. After retiring from the military, he worked for the Pueblo Community Health Center and Crowley County Correctional Facility. He was a member of the American Legion Post 94 and VFW Post 336, both in Ordway. Orley was an avid sports fan, especially of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. Additionally, he was a proud supporter of his alma mater, the Crowley County Chargers. Orley was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Victor, Jr., and David. He is survived by one brother, Henry Reyes of Ordway, CO; six sisters, Marcella (Gary) Mieczkowski of Jinan, China; Dolores Trujillo of Colorado City, CO; Nellie Garcia (Primitivo), Ruth Pacheco, Rosie Contreras, and Polly (Ray) Aranda, all of California. He is also survived by nephews Scott Reyes, Michael Mieczkowski, Matthew Minjarez, Marty Beeler, and Kyle Rudisill; nieces, Hilary Rudisill, Lisa Minjarez, Carissa Reyes, and Chelsea Minjarez. Many other nieces and nephews also survive. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ordway, Colorado. Burial will take place at Valley View Cemetery in Ordway with full military honors by American Legion Post 94. Ford-Ustick Funeral Home of Rocky Ford is in charge of arrangements.
