Owen Palmer Hixon

February 14, 1932 - March 19, 2015

Owen Palmer Hixon, 83, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Thursday, March 19th, peacefully, at Pioneer Health Care Center. Owen was born in La Junta, CO on February 14, 1932, a son of the late Isabelle Marie (Palmer) and Edward Henry Hixon. Owen graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1950 and CSU in 1956. He was the husband of Dona Hixon, they were married on Aug. 18, 1990 at La Junta, CO. He had previously been married to Twila McKee. He served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant in the Korean War. He worked as an Engineer in Wisconsin & Nebraska then came back and farmed in Manzanola. He was a member of the American Legion Post #8, Arkansas Valley Amateur Radion Club, Rocky Ford Library Volunteer for 5 years, Volunteer Fireman in Manzanola for 12 years. He is survived by his wife, Dona of the home; Son Charles Hixon, of Houston, TX; Son Stanley, husband of Nicole Hixon, of Atlanta, GA; Son John Hixon, of Beatrice, NE; Brother Sumner Hixon, of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren. Owen was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Charlotte Jerger Funeral Services will be at the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 26th, with Pastor Marty Lee officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. Family request donations to Arkansas Valley Hospice 531 Lewis La Junta, CO 81050. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.fordustick.com.
