Mrs. Pearl May Torgler, 95, of Ordway died Tuesday, August 4th, 2009 while in the company of family members at Crowley County Nursing Center in Ordway. Pearl was born in Hugo, Co. on November 20, 1913, the daughter of the late Hugh Angus and Ethel M. (Carrier) McDonell. They moved back to the area on a wagon train where her parents ran a dairy when she was 4 years old. She was the widow of George Torgler. They were married on August 15, 1930 in Pueblo, Colorado after which they were chased by her mother with a shotgun. He preceded her in death in December of 1991. During the depression she worked at Aldersons while George took care of the kids. In 1941, they started Torgler Feed & Seed. In 1953, they started the Torgler New & Used Furniture Store until retirement. Pearl was a member of the EUB Church and later the United Methodist Church of Ordway. She was also a member of the Numa Neighbors Club, UMW, Senior Citizens, SE Colorado Antique Classic Car Club and the Red Hat Club. She is survived by; Son Shannon husband of Jeanne Torgler of Ordway, CO; Son Rod husband of Marianne Torgler of Ordway, CO; Brother Paul McDonell husband of Charlotte of Ordway, CO. She is also survived by her Grandchildren: Justin Peterson, Valette Imperato, Jason Torgler, Jennifer Maxwell, Rochell Torgler, Renee Susman, Kathryn Torgler; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George; son: Albert Torgler; a daughter: Kathryn Peterson and a grand-daughter: Christine Nicole Torgler. Funeral Services will be at the Ordway United Methodist Church, Ordway, CO, at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 7th, with De Etta Gottel officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time at the Ordway United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Ordway, CO. Memorial Funds have been established with the Arkansas Valley Hospice; 118 W. 4th, LaJunta, CO, 81050 or the Ordway United Methodist Church; 4th & Main; Ordway, CO 81063.
