Penny E. Lewis, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, in La Junta, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on March 6, 1949, in Denver, Penny lived a life marked by unwavering dedication, profound care, and a strong work ethic that touched everyone who knew her.
For a decade, Penny devoted herself to Sage Services, she also worked alongside Bob and Kathy as a pharmacy technician. Her commitment to her work was a true reflection of her character—diligent, dependable, and compassionate. Though her professional life was important to her, Penny’s greatest pride came from her family. She poured her heart into nurturing her children and delighting in the presence of her 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and meaning to her life.
Penny was a woman of many talents and interests. She cherished the quiet pleasures of knitting, sewing, and crafts, and found solace and adventure through the pages of a good book. Her caring nature was evident not only in her creative spirit but in her everyday actions—always ready with a warm smile, a listening ear, and an unyielding strength that anchored her loved ones through life’s challenges.
Her marriage of 58 years to her beloved husband, Alan Lewis, was a testament to a love strong and steadfast. Together, they built a family grounded in love and respect. Penny’s three children—Susan Phillips of Fruita, Stacey Lewis of Colorado Springs, and Shannon Lewis of Rocky Ford—honor her memory by carrying forward her values and kindness.
Looking back on a life well-lived, Penny leaves behind more than just memories; she leaves a legacy of love, resilience, and dedication that will forever inspire those who knew her. The years of good family time shared with Penny will be treasured in the hearts of all she touched.
Though she has departed from our sight, Penny’s spirit remains vibrant in the stories told, the crafts created, and the love she so generously gave. In her passing, we find both sorrow and gratitude—sorrow for the loss of a remarkable woman and gratitude for having been blessed with her in our lives.
Penny E. Lewis will be remembered not only for the years she graced the world but for the indelible mark she left on every heart she encountered. May her soul rest in peace, forever embraced by the love she so freely gave.
