Pete Arthur Martinez, 73, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Friday, December 25th, at The Villas of Sunny Acres, Thornton, CO.
Pete was born in La Junta, CO on October 6, 1947, a son of the late Tillie (Griego) Moralez and Frederick Martinez.
He was the husband of Julia Lee Jane (Gauna) Martinez, they were married on September 26, 1964 in Rocky Ford, CO.
Pete, "Mr. Pete", Dad, Grandpa and Papo is what we all knew him as. He was dedicated to his job at Hollar Seeds for 47 years, retiring as a Foreman/Supervisor. He loved fishing and camping trips with his sons, brothers and nephews. He was always following to support his kids and grandkids at all their sporting events. His kindness was one of a kind, helping anyone he knew and even some he didn't, in their time of need. Pete's yard was his pride and joy, he loved working on it to keep it nice and pretty. He also liked hanging out with his alley buddies. He was an avid Denver Bronco, Denver Nuggets and Colorado Rockies fan.
Pete dedicated his life to his wife, Jane of 56 years, kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and his great-great-grandson. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Jane of the home; Son Tom (Yolanda) Martinez, of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Jimmy Martinez, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Cindy (Joseph) Montoya, of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Shirley McManaman, of Westminster, CO; Sister Donna (Billy) Ortiz, of Englewood, CO; Brother Manuel (Jody) Moralez, of Denver, CO; Brother John Martinez, of Rocky Ford, CO; Brother Ernie Martinez, of Denver, CO; Brother Anthony (Tillie) Martinez, of Denver, CO; Brother Jimmy (Randa) Moralez, of Denver, CO; Brother Lawrence (Trudy) Moralez, of Denver, CO; Brother Eddie (Arlene) Moralez, of Denver, CO.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Anita Martinez, Jacob (Lori) Martinez, Alicia Martinez, Natasha (Thaddeus) Young, Shannon Montoya, Sean (Britney) Montoya, Qierra Vigil, Qianna (Chris Ramirez) Vigil, Ashley (Joey Garza) Martinez, Felicia Perez; 21 great - grandchildren; 1 great - great grandson.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents; son: Randy Martinez; daughter: Cheryl Martinez; sister: Christine Moralez; brother -n - law: Jerry "Butch" McManaman.
There will be a viewing on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Ford -Ustick Funeral Home. Also from 10:00 AM until service time at the church prior to the services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 5th at Church of the Nazarene in La Junta, CO with Jacob Martinez and Thaddeus Young officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
