Philip Daniel "Papa Smurf" Baros, 73, of Pueblo, formerly of Rocky Ford, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo.
Philp was born on July 21, 1945 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Joe and Agatha (Herrera) Baros. He grew up in Rocky Ford. Philip was united in marriage to Maryann Santistevan and they made their home in Rocky Ford. He stayed at home to take care of the children during their early years, and later worked as a maintenance worker for the City of Rocky Ford.
Philip liked to fish, listening to and playing along with Spanish music on his guitar. Ramon Ayala and Vincente Fernandez were his favorite singers. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
He is survived by his children, Phillip Baros of Rocky Ford, Aggie (Everardo Madrano) Baros of Temple, TX, Sueann Baros of Colorado Springs, Adrian (Misty) Baros of Pueblo; adopted grandchildren, Mario (Christine) Baros, Sr. and Janita Baros, along with Tamala Baros, Mercedes Baros, Estephen Grassmick, Jasmine Grassmick, Destiny Baros, Emelio Baros, Steven Torrez, Twyla Torrez, Audie Baros, Amari Baros, Chanel Baros; great-grandchildren, Azali and Aniah Medina, Jamal, Meraya, and Romeo Brown, Devinity Hernandez, Jesus and Angel Mendoza, Eliyah (Vargas )Torrez, Maria Ortega Bella and Mario Baros, Jr.; sisters, Viola (Theodore) Johnson and Teresa Perry.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maryann; son, Brian Baros; parents, Joe and Agatha Baros; brothers, Abel, Junior and Levi Baros; and sister, Mary Baros, Molly Garcia, Jenny Baros, and Angie Baros.
Cremation was held and private services and burial at a later date in the Valley View Cemetery at Rocky Ford.
