Mr. Philip James "PJ" Marquez, 48, of Rocky Ford, CO passed away suddenly Saturday, October 6th, 2012 at the Denver Coliseum amongst friends while attending the Endurocross Races. PJ was born in La Junta, CO on May 11, 1964, the son of Dennis Luis and Vickie Lynne (Pierce) Marquez. They survive. He graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1982 then attended 1 year at Rangely College. He was the husband of Michele (Grasmick) Marquez. They were married on August 2, 2002 in Taos, NM. She survives. PJ was a member of the American Motorcycle Association. He is survived by His parents; Dennis & Vickie Marquez; Wife Michele of the home; Sister Nina wife of Brad Anderson of Virginia Beach, VA; Brother David wife of Lisa Marquez of Garden City, KS; Brother-in-law Mark husband of Jerrilea Grasmick of La Junta, CO; Sister-in-law Merriann Grasmick of Rocky Ford, CO; Nephew Drew Milenski of Rocky Ford, CO; Niece Brandy wife of Greg MacDonald of Virginia Beach, VA; Nephew Russell Boley of Virginia Beach, VA; Niece Alexis Anderson of Fort Collins, CO; Nephew Garrett Grasmick of La Junta, CO; Niece Bailey Grasmick of La Junta, CO; Parents-in-law: Herb & Joy Grasmick, Ed & Nelda Bender; Brother-in-law Russell husband of Shelley Bender of Pueblo, CO; Brother-in-law Clifford husband of Joetta Bender of Canon City, CO; Nephew Cole Bender of Pueblo, CO; Niece Bella Bender of Canon City, CO; Nephew Naaman Bender of Canon City. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Sheila (Holland) Marquez Memorial Service will be at Valley Community Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 13th, with Pastor John Dell officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be private at a later time. The family also asks that everyone dress casual and comfortable for the service per PJ's request. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
