Ramon Lucero

Mr. Ramon Bernadino Lucero, 76, of Rocky Ford died on Friday, March 19th, 2010 while in the company of family members at Pueblo Care & Rehabilitation Services, Pueblo, CO. Ramon was born in Tecolotito, NM on December 21, 1933, the son of the late Manuel S. and Elvira (Mendoza) Lucero. He was the husband of Julia S. (Sanchez) Lucero. They were married on February 9, 1985 in Rocky Ford, CO. She survives. He worked in concrete and cement for many years at various places. For a few years he worked at Clevenger's in Rocky Ford. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford and enjoyed fishing, listening to Mexican music, a good plate of Mexican food and spending time with family and friends. To his family and friends he was known for always joking around and enjoying life. He is survived by his wife Julia; Daughter Barbara wife of Al Ramirez of Commerce City, CO; Grandson Francisco husband of Sara Somoza of Commerce City, CO; Grandson Ramon Somoza of Northglen, CO; Granddaughter Analisa wife of Edgar Ruiz of Brighton, CO; Great-Grandchildren Audrianna, Kylee, Avila & Vianne Brother John husband of Julia Lucero of CA; Sister Carmen wife of Eddie Vasquez of LaJunta, CO; Sister Dolores wife of Pablo Montanez of Rocky Ford, CO; Step Daughter Kathy wife of Tony Quintana of Pueblo, CO; Step Daughter Sylvia wife of Frank Ayala of Pueblo, CO. He is also survived by numerous Step-Grandchildren, Step-Great-Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Beatrice May & Emma Perea; brothers: Reynaldo, Arthur, Manuel, Dennis & Andrew Lucero. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, March 24th, with Fr. Don Malin officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 1-6 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. A Rosary Service will be recited at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at St. Peters Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford. Casketbearers will be Francisco Somoza, Rick Apodaca, Lawrence Montanez, Jerry Lucero, Benji Lucero and Mathew Vasquez.
