Randall Lee Schreckhise
March 3, 1922 - October 14, 2011
Randall Lee Schreckhise passed away October 14, 2011 in La Junta, CO. He was born March 3, 1922 in Linn County, Missouri to Evertt and Ada (McCollum) Schreckhise. He was preceded in death by his wife Iona, who passed away this past April. They would have celebrated their 70th anniversary this past July. His son Roger, parents, brother Elonzo, and an infant sister predeceased him. He is survived by son Gene Schreckhise (wife Nancy) of Kennewick, WA; grandchildren Susie Oram (husband Rob and children Jakob and Megan) of Richland, WA, Bill Schreckhise (wife Janine Parry and children Kate and Paul) of Fayetteville, AR, and Randy Schreckhise (wife Heidi) of San Diego, CA; niece Glenda Lambert of Bennett, CO; and cousin Buddy Gall of Purdin, MO. Randall grew up on a farm in Linn County, Missouri. He graduated from high school in Shelby, MO. After several moves, he located his family to Rocky Ford, CO in 1952. For many years, he leased and drove a truck for Wright Motor Lines, based in Rocky Ford. Later, he was a carpenter and, along with his partner, Roy Mitchell, worked on many houses and other structures throughout the Rocky Ford and surrounding area. He was a member of the Knights of Phythian and the local Good Sam Club. He was a kind man, made friends easily, and will be missed by many. The family thanks the staff at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center's Nursing Care Center, Arkansas Valley Hospice, Dr. Richard Shand, and others involved with Randall's care these past months. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, you send a memorial contribution to the Arkansas Valley Hospice, Alzheimer's Association, or another charity of you choice. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, located at 301 W. Washington Avenue in Rocky Ford, CO. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Condolence may be sent to www.fordustick.com.
