Mr. Ray Allen, 87, of Rocky Ford died Monday, August 11th, 2008 suddenly at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center, La Junta, CO. Ray was born in Tulsa, OK on January 28, 1921, the son of the late William and Annie (Murphy) Allen. He was the widower of Joyce Allen. They were married on October 23, 1940 in Rocky Ford she preceded him in death on November 22, 2007. He worked as a Truck Driver at Southern Colorado Power Company for 34 years He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, serving in the 835 Engineer Battalion Company B-Tech 5 for 3 years in North Africa and Italy. He is survived by: Daughter Carolyn (James) Evans of Enid, Ok.; Brother Dale Allen of Dumas, Texas; Sister Wilma Jean Scofield of Amarillo, Texas; Sister Illa Mae Haynes of Borger, texas. He is also survived by 6 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; and a son: Jerry; 2 Sisters; and 3 brothers Graveside Services at Hillcrest Cemetery, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 16th, with James Evans Elder The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints officiating. Friends are invited to call Friday 1-5 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Friends are also invited to call Saturday 8:30 - 9:30 AM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Rocky Ford, CO. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
