Rebecca "Becky" Alice Oswald

September 18, 1951 - August 4, 2016

Rebecca Ann (Becky) Oswald, 69, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away on Thursday, August 4th, peacefully, at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center-Nursing Center East, La Junta. Rebecca was born in Hesston, KS on May 27, 1947, a daughter of the late Ruth (King) and John Paul Duerksen. She was the wife of Stanley William Oswald, they were married on July 10, 1971 in Aurora, OH. She was a member of Rocky Ford Mennonite Church Rocky Ford, CO and was active in the Rocky Ford Mennonite Church as a song leader and church council member for many years. Becky graduated from high school in Hesston, KS in 1965 and then graduated from Hesston College in 1968 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She was a Public Health Nurse at Otero County Health Department Rocky Ford, CO, for 30 years, retiring in 2014. Previously she worked as an office nurse for Dr. Elmer Morgan and Dr. George Hostetler for years. She volunteered with many different Health and Service Agencies in the Arkansas Valley. She is survived by her husband Stanley of the home; Son Christopher Oswald, of Pueblo, CO; Son Benjamin, husband of Mary Oswald, of Moscow, ID; Son Anthony Oswald, of Pueblo, CO; Grandson Thomas Oswald, of Moscow, ID; Grandson Nathan Oswald, of Moscow, ID; Sister-in-Law Belle, of Goshen, IN. Becky was preceded her parents, Brother: John Duerksen. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 9th at Rocky Ford Mennonite Church in Rocky Ford, CO, with Pastor David Mourn officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be private at a later time. The family requests donations to Crossroads Market Place; 211 Colorado Av.
