Rodney Lee Chavez, 60, of Crowley, CO, left this life on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017

Rodney was born in Denver, CO on November 1, 1956, a son of the late Barbara Ann (Gavaldon) and Lee Julian Chavez.

He was a member of AA and a Sundancer, Pipecarrier and member of the Native American Church. He surrounded himself with his animal family his horses; Shadow and Hawk, Parrots: Sammy & Arwen and his dogs Kido & Baby. He volunteered at Resada and the Fort Lyon facility holding AA meetings and sweat lodges for the residents sharing experience strength and hope with those still suffering from addiction.

He is survived by: Brother Michael and wife Deana Chavez, Nephews Jeff and Josh Chavez and their families. He is also survived by his AA family who was a huge part of his life. Special friends: Sharon Tashiro, her daughter April Montgomery and Karen Riemenschnieder and her daughters Brittney Coy and Jessica Riggs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Connie.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 24th at 2:00 PM in the Ft. Lyon Supportive Residential community room 401 in Las Animas, CO. Inurnment will be private at a later time.
