Ronald Wayne Losey, commonly known as Ron or Ronnie to most was born on Veteran's Day, November 11, 1961, at the La Junta Mennonite Hospital to the late Wilbur "Junior" Losey and MayJane (Bond) Losey. Ronnie passed away July 24, 2026, at UC Health Memorial Central at the age of 64.

Ronnie was raised in the First Christian Church in Las Animas. He attended school in Las Animas, graduating from Las Animas High School in 1981.

Upon graduation Ronnie moved to Williston, North Dakota, where he lived for 5 years before returning to Las Animas in 1986. Upon his return in 1986, he was employed by Bent County Road and Bridge (West End) for the next 38 years as a heavy equipment/road maintainer operator of Southern Bent County.

In 1987, Ronnie united in marriage with Suezette Andes of Parshall, North Dakota. On June 25th, 1988, they welcomed their daughter, Coral Ann Losey. Ronnie and Suezette later divorced.

Ronnie had a life long love for music, starting as a young boy in 4-H talent shows up to the time of his death playing with his Classic Country Band. Ronnie played multiple instruments and was mostly self taught playing by ear. Music was an important part of his life. His favorite music artists were: Hank Williams Sr. And Junior, Merle Haggard and Johnny Rodriguez, who was a close family friend.

The love of his life was his one and only Granddaughter, Olive Marie Whatley. He loved and enjoyed his role and life as "Papa Ron."

His hobbies were genealogy and photography. He was able through ancestry searches to find and connect many relatives to our family, who remain close to the family today. He was a very good photographer. A photo he took of Country Music Artist, Johnny Rodriguez, out South of Las Animas on an old homestead was used as a cover photo on a Country Music Magazine.

He loved old westerns on television. His favorite actor was John Wayne.

Ronnie always had an interest in having the mail route that his Maternal Grandparents had from the 1940's through 1980. The same route came up for bid the Summer of 2024 which prompted Ronnie to retire from Bent County Road and Bridge and bid on the mail route. Ronnie was awarded this bid by the US Postal Service starting October 1, 2024, through the time of his passing.

Ronnie is survived by: Daughter, Coral Ann Garcia of La Junta; Granddaughter, Olive Marie Whatley of Texas; Sister, Rachel Losey of Las Animas; Brother, Randy Losey of Las Animas/Wittmann, AZ; Brother, Carlos (Danae) Gallegos of Williston, ND/New Port Richey, FL; Niece, Lanette Garrison of Las Animas; Nieces: Mackenzie Gallegos, Lilli Gallegos, Hensley Jo Strain; Nephews: Roman and Lincoln Gallegos; Great Niece, Jaclyn Grace Garrison of Las Animas; Aunt, Linda Lightcap and numerous cousins and a host of many, many friends and his little dog and companion, Penny.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, the late Wilbur J. and MaryJane Losey; Maternal Grandparents Wayne T. Bond and Grace Viola (Van Zant) Bond; step Maternal Grandmothers Opal (Whipple) Bond, Sarah Josephine (Jones/Lightcap) Bond; Paternal Grandparents, Wilbur S. and Martha Anna Losey; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
