Rose E. Sears passed away of natural causes on the afternoon of April 30, 2026 with her family present. She was born on August 28, 1931, in Sugar City, to parents Henry Steinmetz and Pauline Becker. She was proud of her Volga German heritage and of her hometown of Ordway. She was born and raised on the farm where the family raised sugar beets, watermelons and tomatoes. The whole family was involved in the labor required for the farm. She had many stories to tell about growing up on the farm, her neighbors, cousins, the severe thunderstorms and the hard work. She attended the Numa School at Crowley County and graduated from the Crowley County High School in 1949. She loved kids and did home daycare for many years as well as babysitting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making ceramics, collecting dolls and collecting pictures of owls and craft projects. She made many ceramics that she gave as gifts and hundreds of knitting, crochet, and crafts projects. She loved to cook German food and share it with the family. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they would visit and at family events. She would do anything for her family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pueblo where she had many friends and always enjoyed attending every Sunday. She took four of her grandchildren to church with her every Sunday when they grew up.
She was preceded in death by her husband George Victor Sears, sister Clara Pointer, grandson Jeff Sears, brothers-in-law Bud Pointer and Kenneth Harris, nieces Patricia Pointer and Tammy Pointer and numerous cousins. She is survived by sons Gary (Donna), George (Kathy), Rodney (Sharon) and Vicki Sears. Grandchildren Victor Sears, Dottie (Troy) Vandiver, Chris Sears, Gary (Samantha) Sears, Catherine Sears (Eric), Kayla Sears and Sadie Sears. Numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
