Ruben Castillo Rivas, Sr., 70, of La Junta, CO, passed away Saturday, January 9th, at Parkview Medical Center, Pueblo.

Ruben was born in Brownsville, TX on October 21, 1950, a son of Eva (Castillo) Rivas, of La Junta, CO and the late Arnulfo Rivas.

He was the husband of Oralia Gallegos (De la Fuente) Rivas, they were married on March 11, 1971 in Groveland, FL.

He worked as a farm labor contractor and truck driver.

Ruben enjoyed fishing, trips to Cripple Creek, shooting pool, traveling and spending time with his family especially the grandkids and great - grandkids.

He is survived by: Mother Eva Rivas of La Junta; Wife Oralia of the home; Son Ruben (Joyce Aragon) Rivas, Jr., of La Junta, CO; Daughter Frances Rivas, of Bladen, NE; Son Roberto Rivas, of La Junta, CO; Daughter Rose Rivas, of La Junta, CO; Son David Matthew Rivas, of Scottsbluff, NE; Daughter Linda Rivas, of La Junta, CO; Sister Mindy Rivas, of Mississippi; Sister Eva Cisneros, of La Junta, CO; Brother Adam Rivas, of La Junta, CO; Sister Norma Rivas, of Pueblo, CO.

He is also survived by grandchildren: Naomi (Sophia) Rivas, Jaydon Rivas - Gallegos, Helena (Terrell) Billie, Sierra Mendoza - Carrillo, Isabella Mendoza - Carrillo, Ethan Rivas, Robert Rivas, Shayna Phillips, Kurtis Aragon, Andraya Rivas, Megan Rivas, Ruben Rivas, III, Fabian (Alarissa) Gomez, Jr., Chrisilda Gomez, Janessa Gomez, Margarita Gomez, Marcos Gomez, Adrian Gomez, Monique Gonzales, 25 great - grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his father: grandson: Jarod Rivas; great-grandchild: Jayleianna Rivas - Trujillo; brothers: Carlos Rivas, Conrad Rivas, David Rivas.

Graveside Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 16th at Mountain View Cemetery in Manzanola, CO.
