Rueben Lee (Pappo) Gonzales, 66, of Ordway, CO, passed away Sunday, July 7th, at his residence.

Rueben was born in Rocky Ford, CO on February 20, 1953, a son of Cecilia (Reil) Gonzales and the late Albino Gonzales.

He graduated from Crowley County High School and Colorado University.

He was the husband of Melody Sue (Ace) Gonzales, they were married on July 3, 2019.

In Rueben's high school days he took part in choir and football. Then after graduating he went to college at CSU in Boulder and got a job for IBM. During that time he enjoyed taking long trips on his Harley. He then retired from IBM and returned home to Ordway. It is in Ordway he meet his wife Melody. At this time he traded in his Harley for a comfy recliner and his new four legged friend Muggzy. Rueben was a passionate football fan, always cheering for the Denver Broncos. However, his most favorite moments would be spent giving his love to his grandkids and great grandkids. No matter the day or time he loved their visits. He is greatly loved and will be missed. Â

Step Daughter Shawna Ace, of Ordway, CO;

Step Daughter Dawn (Leroy) Bowers, of North Platte, NE;

Step Daughter Bobbie (Allen) Blanco, of Fowler, CO;

Sister Lucy (Paul) Gonzales - Romero, of Georgia;

Sister Roseanne (Raul) Sanchez, of Pueblo, CO.

He is also survived by 6 Grandchildren and 3 Great - Grandchildren

Rueben was preceded in death by his father: Albino; sister: Pauline.

A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM with the Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 12, 2019, both will be at the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ordway, CO with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. Inurnment will be private at a later time.
