Mr. Rusty Joe Markus, 52, of Rocky Ford died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center, Pueblo, Pueblo County, CO. Rusty was born in Mile City, MT on August 12, 1957, the son of Harry Lee and Jorene Edna (Venn) Markus. He graduated from Crowley County High School in 1975. He was the husband of Lori Ann (Zellhofer) Markus. They were married on September 30, 1990 at the First United Methodist Church in Rocky Ford. He was self-employed as a farmer. He enjoyed family and friends, fishing, Nascar, working on cars especially his corvette. He is survived by his mother Jorene Markus; his wife Lori of the home; Daughter Nicole wife of Santiago Wilkins of LaJunta, CO; Daughter Lia Tucci of Colorado Springs, CO; Daughter Whitney Markus of Colorado Springs, CO; Son Rusty Markus, Jr. of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Sherri wife of Merle Manweiler of Pueblo, CO; Sister Kelli wife of Robert Stanlick Markus of Falcon, CO; Brother Ricky husband of Kay Markus of Ordway, CO; Grandmother Reva Venn of Ordway, CO. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Santino, Brooklyn, Christopher, Malionna & Serenity. He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents: Henry & Mollie Markus and Joe Venn. Funeral Services will be at the First United Methodist Church, Rocky Ford, at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 11th. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 10th from 1-3 PM at the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be private at a later time. Family request donations to Animal Rescue 1312 Adams La Junta, CO 81050.
