Sachiko (Susie) Hirakata, 92, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Tuesday, December 1st, at Crowley County Nursing Center, Ordway, Crowley County.

She was born in Rocky Ford, CO on March 6, 1928, a daughter of the late Tami (Takeda) and Sadakichi Harada.

Susie was raised in the Rocky Ford area, on Center Ranch with her four brothers and four sisters. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School with the class of 1946.

She was the widow of Gene "JJ" Hirakata. They were married on January 16, 1954 in the First Christian Church of Rocky Ford.

Susie was a homemaker and in the summer months she ran Gene's Farm Market on Highway 50 for several years.

She also enjoyed traveling, sewing and spending time with her friends from the H.H. Club. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Susie was a member of First Christian Church of Rocky Ford.

She is survived by: Son Glenn, husband of Carmen Hirakata, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Cookie, wife of Ed Tateyama, of Ault, CO; Daughter Donna Nakagawa and husband Kirk Seville of Highlands Ranch, CO; Sister Kaz Harada, of Pueblo, CO.

She is also survived by Six Grandchildren: Tyler (Natasha) Tateyama, Trey (Jordan) Tateyama, Mitchell Nakagawa, Grant (Jamie) Nakagawa, Kellie Hirakata, Kyle Hirakata; 3 Great-Grandchildren: Calvin, Carter & Cody Tateyama Susie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 2019.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Valley View Cemetery, Rocky Ford. Inurnment will be in the Valley View Cemetery, Rocky Ford.
