Sarah Catherine Bandy, 80, of Fowler, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019 in Pueblo.

Sarah was born on January 25, 1939 in Enid, Oklahoma to Herman and Ethel (Shepherd) Gerten.

She was united in marriage to Dale Bandy on June 21, 1958 in Ordway, Colorado.

Sarah enjoyed the cross stitching, camping, outdoors, birds, animals and gardening. She always kept her yard and flowers beautiful. She had quite the green thumb for house plants as well and things thrived under her care.

She and Dale enjoyed traveling around and touring the various parts of the country and beyond. She collected mementos from those trips and enjoyed sharing her memories with others. She has been to nearly every state, Canada and Mexico.

Sarah loved being with her grandchildren and spent many a happy hour playing with them and reading books to them.

She served in many capacities in her church by helping the elderly get to Dr. appointments and taking them shopping. She also served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.

The most enduring quality that Sarah may be remembered for is her deep alto singing voice. She was such a strong alto that her daughters, even as young children, learned how to sing harmony before they learned melody. In fact, her voice quality and alto range has been passed down to several of her granddaughters and her voice can be heard in theirs as they, too, carry on the legacy of harmony and singing.

Sarah is survived by her husband, Dale; daughters, Susan (Bill) Graham, Robin Bandy, Jill (Pete) Gomez; son, Scott (Ginger) Bandy; 12 great-children; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents; and a brother, Harlan Gerten.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at the Faith Baptist Church in Fowler. Burial will follow at the Onley Springs Cemetery.
