Socorro Maria Lopez, 86, of La Junta, CO, passed away Sunday, December 13th, at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center.

Socorro was born in Mexico City, Mexico on September 25, 1934, a daughter of the late Tomasa (Renteria) and Angel Galvan.

She was the widow of Roy Lopez, Sr., they were married February 22, 1950 in Rocky Ford, CO.

She attended the Assembly Apostolic Church in Rocky Ford, CO.

Socorro was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she loved her plants, going to yard sales and coffee visits with her loved ones. She enjoyed  the simple things in life like watching the price is right, family feud as well as spending time doing her crossword and word search puzzles. Her favorite flower was the sunflower and she loved her family dearly. Mostly, she loved reading her bible, listening to sermons on Youtube and praying for her family, friends and loved ones.  She was an amazing woman with a heart for life and she lived it to its fullest.

She is survived by: Daughter Sarah (Leroy) Grano, of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Roy Lopez, Jr., of Houston, TX; Son Richard (Maria Alvarado) Lopez, of Trinidad, CO; Son Henry Lopez, of Denver, CO; Son Ralph Lopez, of Oxnard, CA; Daughter Maryann (Bennie) Martinez, of La Junta, CO; Daughter Lillian Lopez, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Donna (Danny Jr.) Whatley, of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Valerie Lopez, of Vacaville, CA; Daughter Melyssa (Joe) Zamora, of La Junta, CO; Sister Enriqueta Galvan, of Portland, OR; Daughter Cheree Lopez, of Pueblo, CO.

She is also survived by 25 grandchildren; numerous great - grandchildren and great - great - grandchildren.

Socorro was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers; 2 sisters.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 21st at Full Gospel Church in Rocky Ford, CO. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
