Sonya Ann Taggart

Sonya Ann Taggart, 43, of La Junta, CO, passed away at 1:35 AM, Tuesday, November 15th, at University of Colorado Hospital, Aurora, CO. Sonya was born in Denver, CO on January 20, 1973, a daughter of Chris Marie (Frost) Taggart and the late Larry Brian Taggart. Sonya graduated from Crowley County High School and attended OJC and received her CNA license in Denver, CO. She was married to Carl Miller of Ordway, CO in 1991, they later divorced. She worked as a C.N.A. at Evergreen Gardens La Junta, CO. Sonya was talented in many areas. She enjoyed painting and making crafts for those she loved. She loved to cook and had an uncanny understanding of how to use spices in her dishes. She enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, hunting and playing with horses. When she wasn't outdoors, she loved her indoor animals; cat (s), dogs, birds, and fish. Sonya had a passion for "Garfield" memorbilia. She was able to perform her own car repairs and wasn't afraid to take on a new task. Sonya loved working at Evergreen. She loved spending time with the residents and would frequently go above and beyond to meet their needs. Sonya didn't possess much in this world but what she had, she was always willing to share. Sonya will be remembered for her huge heart. She is survived by her mother Chris Taggart of Rocky Ford; Daughter Kelsey Miller of Colorado Springs; Son Jason Miller of La Junta, CO; two sisters, Cerina, wife of Dennis Cunningham, of Arriba, CO; Kate, wife of Aaron Pearson, of La Junta, CO; a brother, John, husband of Vanessa Taggart, of Rocky Ford, CO; She is also survived by 2 grandchildren Mirah Miller and Stephen Miller She was preceded in death by her dad: Larry Taggart; grandfather: Charles Frost; step-son: Stephen Miller. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 19th at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home in Rocky Ford, CO. There will be no viewing as cremation has effected.
